Welcome to Sakinah WAQF Foundation (SWF)
The Sakinah WAQF Foundation (SWF) was established in 2018 as a pioneering and independent community-driven foundation committed to innovative philanthropy through the Islamic institution of Waqf. Waqf is the most sustainable, enduring, and empowering of all voluntary Islamic charities and the Sakinah Waqf Foundation was established to uplift the community in a way of giving that is steeped in Islamic history and benevolence. Today, modern Islamic charitable organisations like Sakinah Medical Outreach accepts monetary or real estate donations as waqf, which is invested wisely (for example, funds collected are used in purchasing property to be rented out) and using the profits to fund their charity projects or development programs, helping the poorest communities around the world.
An exemplary case was that of the story of Uthman’s well. When people of Madinah were suffering draught of water and there was sufficient water in a well belonging to one Jew. The Jew named Rumat al Giffari was selling water to the poor inhabitants of Madinah with a high price (as many of us would do today). The Messenger of Allah (SAW) assured Paradise to those who will buy the well and endow it to the entire residents of Madinah (both poor and rich).
Uthman bin Affan (RA) at once set out for the Jew and purchased the well in two batches paying a hefty price (38,000 dirham – silver coins – a huge sum in those times) and registered as an endowment (WAQF) to poor natives of Madinah.
This prolonged charity (i.e. the well) is still intact and tons of water are being pumped out of it using an electrical motor which is used to irrigate the farmland beside it, quench the taste of pilgrims and vast communities in need of water.
Through the SWF, Sakinah Medical Outreach will serve the general community with transparency, credibility, and local-knowledge.

To be the premier organization in Waqf fund management with a national socio-economic impact, with the aim to contribute meaningfully towards the growth and development of the health sector in Nigeria through the initiation and/or support of strategically focused and sustainable development of healthcare services, projects and facilities.
Our Mission
To raise Waqf fund from individuals corporation and other entities throughout the world to aid the services of Sakinah Medical Outreach in the provision of free health care services to the less privilege (Muslims or Non-Muslims) living in Nigeria. In all our activities and projects we will strive to adhere to a high standard of fairness, ethics, integrity, and professionalism, and foster mutual respect and understanding among the diverse cultures, faiths, and peoples of our country.
Objectives of the Foundation
To achieve its objectives, the Foundation shall manage, supervise and administer the assets as well as wisely distribute the income of those assets to identified beneficiaries in compliance with Shariah principles.
